Latvia has generally strong governance and anti-corruption framework, with consistent moderate-to-strong performance in the topics assessed. Latvia is notable for strong performance in areas that vex most countries. Government accountability (executive, legislative, judicial) is stronger than many countries assessed, including the West. Latvia's regulation of political financing is the strongest recorded in 2007, despite limited transparency and concern over the role of corporate contributions. There is room for improvement. Access to information is assessed as generally weak, and oversight of state-owned enterprises is weak.
